New Cross car murder police offer £20,000 reward

Police have offered a £20,000 reward for information about the murder of a man shot dead as he sat in his car.

Nathan Williams, 24, from Kennington, south London, was shot several times in his VW Golf on Ludwick Mews, in New Cross, south-east London, on 28 July 2009.

The appeal has been launched to coincide with the first anniversary of the murder.

Officers will be in the area on Wednesday handing out leaflets.

'Brutal execution'

Police are hunting for four men who they believe may have been involved in the murder.

Det Ch Insp Gordon Allison, who is leading the investigation, said: "This was a brutal execution of a young man and those who did this should not be tolerated by the community - if you have information I would urge you to come forward and work with police, who can protect your identity.

"Nathan's family deserve justice for their loss and the community deserve to live without fear of those who commit these terrible crimes."

The death is being investigated by the Met's Operation Trident team, which specialises in gun crime in London's African and Caribbean communities.

Last year, a 25-year-old was arrested and bailed on suspicion of murder with no further action taken.
