Troublemakers have been warned to stay away from back-to-back derby football matches between Grimsby Town and Lincoln City over the festive period.

Arrests have been made during encounters between the two clubs in previous years.

The teams face each other at Lincoln on Boxing Day and again at Grimsby on New Year's Day.

Police and dog units will be out in force on the streets of both locations, police said.

Dick Holmes, of Lincolnshire Police, said: "It's the festive period - we are not about spoiling people's enjoyment.

"We welcome law-abiding supporters who go to the game to enjoy themselves. We will not be allowing a hooligan element at the game."

Earlier this month, 12 Lincoln supporters were sentenced for an attack on Luton fans.
