A landmark statue at a Lincolnshire seaside resort has been taken down for refurbishment.

The Jolly Fisherman, which normally resides in the Tower Gardens in Skegness, is to be cleaned for the start of the holiday season.

The mascot, which first appeared on a 1908 railway poster, will have his pipe, scarf and fingers reinforced.

Another Jolly Fisherman statue at the station, was left unchanged after plans for a new £30,000 figure were rejected.
