Man in court accused of murdering girl, 14 months

A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a 14-month-old girl who died after being taken to hospital with a suspected brain injury.

Darryl Elliott, 29, from Sandringham Drive in Sutton-on-Sea, Lincolnshire, was arrested on Saturday after the girl was taken to hospital in Grimsby.

Police said the girl, named as Amelia Bowmar, died at Sheffield Children's Hospital on Monday night.

No plea was entered during the hearing at Lincoln Crown Court.

Mr Elliott was remanded in custody and is due to appear at the same court on 9 November.
