Two men have denied murdering a Lincoln pensioner who died after boiling water was poured over him.

Police said Sonny Grey, 70, was scalded with water from a kettle and subjected to "a disturbing level of violence".

Rocky Curtis, 24, of Newbridge Lane, and Robert Holmes, 23, of Redmoor Lane in Wisbech in Cambridgeshire, appeared at Lincoln Crown court on Tuesday.

Mr Grey died in a hospital two days after he was found at his home in October 2011.

The two men are due to stand trial in front of a jury in February following a hearing in October.
