Calls to rename Grantham's Guildhall after Thatcher

A debate has started over whether Grantham's Guildhall should be renamed in honour of former prime minister Margaret Thatcher.

Conservative town councillor Ray Wooten said Mrs Thatcher was responsible for "putting the 'great' back in Great Britain" and deserved recognition, even though she still divided opinion in the town.

David Burling, former chair of Grantham Labour Party, said the move would be a step too far as it would make her "a pinnacle of worship".
