Woman badly hurt by husband's car in Horncastle

A 73-year-old woman is seriously ill after being hit by her husband's car as he reversed in Horncastle, Lincolnshire.

The Vauxhall Meriva, driven by a 73-year-old man from Woodhall Spa, crashed into the woman as she stood in the town's Market Place.

She suffered a minor head injury and was taken to Lincoln County Hospital, where her condition worsened.

Any witnesses to the crash, at 0930 BST on Monday, should contact police.

The woman is currently being treated in intensive care, a spokesman for the Lincolnshire force said.
