Body discovery is missing Dr James Layfield

Police have confirmed a body found in Lincolnshire was that of a missing GP.

Dr James Layfield, 53, who lived in Friskney and worked in Skegness, was last seen on 12 June.

A police spokeswoman said a body was found in Friskney on 7 July and DNA tests had now confirmed that the deceased was Dr Layfield.

She said a cause of death had not yet been established but police were not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.

Officers had conducted various searches of nearby countryside and lakes to try to locate Dr Layfield.
