Armed police arrest trio in Leicester house

Three people have been arrested after armed officers dealt with a disturbance at a house in Leicester.

Firearms officers were called at about 23:00 BST on Wednesday, on Bateman Road, following reports of an incident involving a knife and a suspected shotgun.

Inquiries led them to an address in Quemby Close, off Loughborough Road.

A man, 41, a woman, 20, and a 16-year-old boy, were arrested. One person sustained minor injuries.

'Armoured protection'

Leicestershire Police said no weapons have been recovered, but believe an air weapon could have been involved.

Kiran Raval, who lives nearby, said: "An ambulance crew was standing by in armoured kind of protection gear in case they needed to treat anyone.

"The access to Quemby Close, which I normally walk across has been blocked."

A police cordon has been set up around the house.
