Loughborough relief road set to open
A multi-million pound inner relief road in Loughborough is set to be opened.
Leicestershire County Council has linked several streets in the town and created the new Jubilee Road, as part of a £19.3m regeneration.
It is hoped the route will ease pressure on the A6 in the centre as well as the area around Market Place.
The relief road links Derby Road/A6 with Barrow Street and the completion allows work to start on making some areas pedestrianised.
Mr Osbourne, transport lead at County Hall, said: "You're taking out 95% of traffic out of the town centre, that's a huge transformation.
"It is a relief. A relief for me and certainly a relief for those people who have been driving around Loughborough, getting fed up with the delays they have had."
Nick Rushton, leader of the county council, who is set open the road on Monday morning, said the changes will bring investment to the town.
