Hinckley Concordia Theatre child sex abuse inquiry: Two men quizzed

Concordia Theatre, Hinckley An inquiry into abuse claims began in October

Two men arrested in a child sex abuse inquiry in Leicestershire are being questioned about indecent images of children, police said.

The two men, who have been released on bail, have links with Concordia Theatre in Hinckley.

Police said they have also identified three other men with child sex convictions with links to the theatre.

Two of the men have been banned from the theatre while the third is currently serving a prison sentence.

'Inadequate' safeguarding

The theatre's premises license is also being reviewed, a police spokesman said.

No-one from the theatre was available for comment.

Detectives, who started the investigation in October, have not revealed how many complainants have come forward.

Det Insp Rich Hiom said: "Our investigation is still seeking to confirm if any sexual offence has taken place and we are still appealing for information about any inappropriate activities at the theatre."

He said the decision to review the theatre's license was "not taken lightly".

"We recognise the disruption this is causing, but these actions have been taken in order to protect children and young people at the theatre now and in the future," he said.

Lesley Hagger, director for children and family services at Leicestershire County Council, said they had found the "safeguarding procedures in place at the theatre to be inadequate".

Given the current police investigation "it would not be right for us to issue performance licences for children," she added.
