Sarah Outen completes her solo Pacific crossing

Rutland adventurer Sarah Outen has rowed for 150 days on a solo Pacific crossing from Japan to Alaska - and returned engaged.

The 28-year-old, who believes she is the first person to complete the voyage, proposed to her girlfriend via satellite phone.

Ms Outen capsized fives time during her journey across the North Pacific and narrowly missed being hit by a cargo ship.

Her mother, Helen Outen, said she felt proud and relieved.
