Leicestershire car and lorry crash kills man

A man was killed when a Land Rover collided with a lorry in Leicestershire.

Police said the two vehicles crashed on the A6006 at Shoby near Melton Mowbray on Saturday morning.

The 34-year-old front seat passenger of the Land Rover, who has not been named, died at the scene. Two other people were taken to hospital.

A 54-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the collision and remains in police custody.

The A6006 is closed while police investigate the scene.

Det Con Pete Davies, the investigating officer, said: "The lorry was travelling towards Melton and the Land Rover Discovery was travelling in the opposite direction at the time of the collision.

"We would urge anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw either of the vehicles beforehand, to please contact the police immediately."
