Charge over Rutland double fatal crash

A woman has been charged with causing death by careless driving following a crash in Rutland.

The collision, on 24 June last year, happened on the southbound carriageway of the A1 in Stretton and involved a Vauxhall Vectra and a Rover 400.

The Rover's driver, Norman Searles, 79, and passenger June Searles, 77, both of Chatham, Kent, died at the scene.

A 38-year-old woman is due to appear at Loughborough Magistrates Court on 13 March.
