Two boys charged with manslaughter over Leicester man's death

Two 14-year-old boys have been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with manslaughter over the death of a man in Leicester.

Ponnuthurai Nimalaraja, 41, known as Nimal, was assaulted at the junction of Gypsy Lane and Northfield Road shortly after 23:00 BST on 9 June.

The two youths are due to appear at Leicester Youth Court on 13 July.

A 12-year-old girl arrested on Thursday has been released on bail pending further inquiries, police said.

Another girl, aged 14, and a 15-year-old boy who were re-arrested on Thursday, have been released on bail.

Two boys, aged 14 and 13, who were on bail in relation to the attack have been released with no further action.

Mr Nimalaraja, a father-of-two, died in hospital on 16 June, one week after being attacked.
