Teenagers detained after man attacked in Northfield

Seven teenagers have been arrested over a street assault in Leicestershire which left a man in a critical condition.

The 41-year-old suffered serious head injuries at the junction of Northfield Road and Gypsy Lane in Northfield at about 23:00 BST on Saturday.

A 14-year-old girl is being questioned along with a 16-year-old boy, two 14-year-old boys and two 13-year-old boys.

A boy, aged 14, who was arrested and bailed on Monday, has been re-arrested.

Leicestershire Police said they believed the group may have been involved in an altercation with the man, who remains in a critical condition.
