Leicestershire outdoor centres in closure fear

At least one of three children's outdoor centres will close under plans by Leicestershire County Council.

The council said the activity centres - Beaumanor Hall, Quorn Hall, and Aberglaslyn Hall, Wales - cost more than £400,000 a year to subsidise.

Following a consultation, it is now proposing to retain Beaumanor Hall, close Quorn Hall and seek another body to take over Aberglaslyn Hall.

A decision will be taken by the council's cabinet on 3 April.

Ivan Ould, county council cabinet member for the children and young people's service, said: "We do appreciate that this is an unsettling time for staff and would work with them to explore options to minimise any impact."

The Conservative-led council is aiming to cut £79m from its budget over the next four years.
