India cricket fans invade Belgrave Road in Leicester

Help

Parts of Belgrave Road in Leicester had to be closed as about 2,000 cricket fans rushed out to celebrate India's World Cup victory over arch-rivals Pakistan.

Supporters partied by blowing horns, waving flags, banging drums and dancing - stopping the evening rush-hour traffic.

Leicestershire Police said: "We did have to close Belgrave Road for about one-and-a-half hours to ensure the safety of the fans and diversions were put in place locally."

The hosts won by 29 runs to book their place in Saturday's final against Sri Lanka in Mumbai.
