Leicester homes flooded after pipe burst

Residents are cleaning up after a major water main pipe burst in Leicester caused damage to homes and traffic delays.

Motorists on Saffron Lane in South Wigston faced traffic problems in the evening rush hour after the accident.

Severn Trent have repaired the damaged pipework, which flooded some homes along the street on Monday morning.

Firefighters helped residents after at least a dozen properties were flooded.

They helped move belongings upstairs after trying to block the flood water with sandbags.

Rachel Blackman of Severn Trent said the water supply at 40 homes has been reconnected.
