Leeds man killed in collision with bus

A 49-year-old man has died after being hit by a bus in Leeds city centre.

The bus was turning right from York Street into Duke Street when it hit the pedestrian, West Yorkshire Police said.

He was left with serious injuries and taken by ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary where he later died.

Eyewitnesses said streets around the nearby bus station were cordoned off after the incident at 23:00 BST on Sunday.

Sgt Carl Quinn, of the major collision inquiry team, said: "I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident to call police on 101."
