Tingley man Richard Dickenson charged with arson over bungalow blast

A man who was injured in an explosion at his home near Leeds has appeared in court charged with arson.

Richard Dickenson, 45, of The Crescent, Tingley, was in the property when a fire started on 28 May.

He managed to get out of the bungalow, but was taken to hospital suffering from burns to the arms and the effects of breathing in smoke.

Magistrates in Leeds remanded him in custody to appear at the city's crown court at a date to be set.

Six nearby properties were evacuated by police officers and council workers following the explosion, but no-one else was injured.
