Surjit Singh Sidhu remanded over Huddersfield murder

A 48-year-old man has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of a man in Huddersfield.

Martin Ackroyd, 50, was found dead at his flat in Ashenhurst Rise, Newsome, at 13:00 BST on Friday, West Yorkshire Police said.

Surjit Singh Sidhu, 48, of New Hey Road, Huddersfield, was charged over the weekend and appeared at Bradford Magistrates' Court on Monday.

He was remanded to appear at Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday.

A 30-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on police bail.
