A 62-year-old man who is charged with murdering his estranged wife has been remanded in custody by a judge.

The body of Pauline Butler, 61, was discovered at a property in Cherry Lea Court, in Rawdon, Leeds, on Monday.

A post-mortem examination found she died of blood loss having sustained a number of stab wounds.

John Butler, of Larkfield Road in Rawdon, Leeds, was put before the Recorder of Leeds Judge Peter Collier and will next appear on 28 April.
