Pennine moorland fire near Todmorden extinguished

A mile-long moorland blaze near the Pennine town of Todmorden in West Yorkshire has been extinguished.

The fire started shortly before 18:30 GMT on Monday at Walsden Moor near Hollingworth Lane but was out by 21:30.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said wildfire specialist equipment was used to put out the fire.

Six fire engines and thirty firefighters were sent to tackle the blaze, including reinforcements from Lancashire and Manchester.
