Adil Zaki trial date set for drugs smuggling charge

A trial date has been set for a man accused of trying to smuggle 17lb (8kg) of heroin with a street value of more than £400,000 into the UK.

Adil Zaki, 43, from Batley, West Yorkshire, was stopped by border police at Manchester Airport on 20 October.

He had arrived on a flight from Pakistan.

Mr Zaki pleaded not guilty to drug smuggling at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court. He was remanded in custody until his trial on 7 April.
