Stargazing through Bradford university robot telescope

7 January 2014 Last updated at 19:10 GMT

As the BBC's Stargazing Live programme returns to screens later, scientists in Bradford are giving people the opportunity to get involved with astronomy from their own homes.

Operated by the University of Bradford, a robotic telescope thousands of miles away in Tenerife is allowing people to gaze at the stars via the internet.

Stargazing Live is on BBC Two at 20:00 GMT.

A number of Stargazing events are taking place in Yorkshire through January and February.
