Bradford robbery victim Shirley Long dies after theft

An elderly woman who was at home when two robbers forced their way in and stole cash and banks cards has died.

West Yorkshire Police said Shirley Long, 77, was taken to hospital with breathing difficulties after the robbery at her house on Manchester Road, in Bradford, on 17 November.

Police said the thieves also stole her mobile phone.

Mrs Long died on Wednesday night and police said "she never recovered from this heartless attack".

In a statement Det Ch Insp Nick Wallen said: "Mrs Long was a frail and vulnerable member of the community and clearly she never recovered from this heartless attack.

"The men who robbed her committed a cowardly and despicable crime and need to be swiftly brought to justice.

"That's why we are again calling for anyone with information to come forward."

Two men have been arrested and bailed on suspicion of robbery.
