Woman in court charged with money laundering after fatal Thorpe attack

A woman arrested after a 57-year-old man died in an attack in West Yorkshire has appeared in court charged with money laundering offences.

Sidney Cox died of multiple injuries after he was attacked at his home in Middleton Lane, Thorpe, on Saturday.

Ann Dear, 37, of Stocksbridge Lane, Bentley, near Doncaster, was remanded in custody by Wakefield magistrates.

She will appear at Leeds Crown Court on 12 September.

Six other people have been arrested in connection with the inquiry.

A 51-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of assault and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

A 50-year-old woman from the Thorpe area was also arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Both remain in custody.

Four people were held on suspicion of murder earlier this week.

A 30-year-old man from Doncaster was arrested on Tuesday night and remains in custody.

Two 16-year-old boys and a 40-year-old man arrested on Sunday have been bailed pending further inquiries, police said.
