Thorpe murder inquiry: Further arrests and one charged

Further arrests have been made and a woman has been charged after a man died in an attack in West Yorkshire.

Sidney Cox, 57, died of multiple injuries after he was attacked in his home in Middleton Lane, in the village of Thorpe, on Saturday.

A 51-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman have now been arrested. Four other people were held on suspicion of murder earlier this week.

A 37-year-old woman has also been charged with money laundering offences.

Ann Dear, of Stockbridge Lane, Bentley, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, is due to appear before Wakefield Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

The 51-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The 50-year-old woman, who is also from the Thorpe area, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Both are currently in custody.

A 30-year-old man from Doncaster was arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday night and remains in custody.

Two 16-year-old boys and a 40-year-old man arrested on Sunday have been bailed pending further inquiries, police said.
