Piano teacher Andrew Pearson jailed for raping pupil

Andrew Pearson The girl's family said Pearson's crimes were "truly horrific"

A piano teacher from Bradford has been jailed for 18 years for raping and abusing a young pupil.

Andrew Pearson, 37, was jailed by a judge at Bradford Crown Court after a jury found him guilty of eight offences or rape and six of sexual abuse.

The court was told Pearson, of Bronte Old Road, Thornton, started grooming the girl when she was aged eight and the offences happened over four years.

The girl's family said they were "truly horrific crimes".

Pc Naomi Brown, from West Yorkshire Police, said: "I would like to thank the victim for her bravery and courage in coming forward to report such heinous crimes.

"This sentence correctly reflects the seriousness of what Pearson did to this vulnerable child."
