A man accused of murdering an 84-year-old woman and attempting to murder a nine-year-old boy has made his first appearance before a crown court judge.

Nathaniel Flynn, 26, of Prospect Mount, Shipley, West Yorkshire, was remanded in custody during the hearing at Bradford Crown Court.

He is alleged to have killed Louisa Denby at her home in Shipley and stabbed the boy in a nearby park.

Mr Flynn will next appear at the court on 22 July.

He also faces a further charge of assaulting a 59-year-old man in Stanley Street, Bradford, with an iron bar and possession of an offensive weapon.

My Flynn has not yet entered any pleas.
