An inquest has been opened and adjourned into the death of a trainee nurse who was killed when a hen party's minibus crashed.

Bethany Jones, 18, from South Elmsall, West Yorkshire, died after the bus and a lorry collided on the M62 on Friday.

Wakefield Coroner's Court was told Miss Jones had been trapped beneath the minibus.

A preliminary post-mortem examination showed she had died from multiple internal injuries.

Miss Jones was one of 21 people on the minibus heading from South Elmsall, near Pontefract, to Liverpool when it was involved in the crash on Friday morning.

Eight others were seriously injured and remain in hospital.

The lorry driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed, West Yorkshire Police said.

The inquest was adjourned pending further inquiries.
