More than 130,000 people visited a new shopping and leisure development in Leeds on its first day of opening, according to the developer.

The Trinity Leeds, which opened on Thursday, is the only major retail centre launching in the UK in 2013.

Work restarted on Trinity Leeds in 2010 after construction was put on hold for 16 months because of the recession.

Hundreds queued for the opening. A ceremony orchestrated by fashion designer Henry Holland was held inside.

Trinity Leeds has been designed to provide a series of covered streets designed to integrate the site with the current layout of the city centre.
