An elderly man who has been missing from home for a week over Christmas is dependent on medication, police searching for him have said.

Bernard Hallas, 84, was wearing pyjamas with a brown sheepskin coat, a brown hat and shoes when he disappeared.

He was last seen heading towards Ramsden Street in Huddersfield at 22:41 GMT on 18 December.

West Yorkshire Police said they had conducted "numerous searches" for Mr Hallas over the Christmas period.

A police spokesman said: "He is an elderly man who requires medication and we would call on local people to come forward with any information, no matter how small or relevant they may think it is.

"Numerous searches have been undertaken by officers and our inquiries are ongoing across the area.

"Mr Hallas is white, around 5'5" tall, clean shaven, frail and with thin grey hair.

"He is friendly man and I would ask that if you see him, please take him somewhere warm and phone the police."
