Most of the 165 houses in a West Yorkshire village cut off from gas in freezing temperatures have been reconnected, a gas supplier has said.

Parts of Marsden, near Huddersfield, were cut off on Tuesday evening after water seeped into the gas main system.

Supplier Northern Gas Networks (NGN) said all the properties their engineers had access to had been restored, leaving about 14 houses to be checked.

A shelter was set up at Marsden Mechanics Institute in Peel Street.
