Man dies after Leeds city centre assault

A murder investigation is under way after a man was attacked and fatally wounded by a group of three men.

The 28-year-old from Tadcaster in North Yorkshire was on his own outside the Grand Theatre in Leeds at 02:00 GMT when he was assaulted and fell to the ground.

He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary, but died a short time later.

Det Ch Insp Simon Atkinson said the suspects were white men in their late teens or early 20s.
