Mirfield monastery valuables go under hammer

Members of a religious community in West Yorkshire are to auction off a collection of valuables including items once owned by the Prince Regent and Sir Patrick Stewart to fund building repairs.

Monks at the Community of the Resurrection in Mirfield need to raise £2.3m to mend their church.

Georgian jewellery, a medieval sword and a 19th Century pistol are among the lots due to go under the hammer at the weekend.
