A 28-year-old man from Bradford has appeared in court charged with the rape of a woman in his minicab.

The victim, 20, got into a car in Leeds in the early hours of 30 September and fell asleep during the ride home.

When she woke, the car was parked in a remote lane, where she was allegedly assaulted.

Mohammed Shahin of Fitzroy Road, appeared before Leeds Magistrates Court, where he was remanded. He is due to appear at crown court on 19 October.

The arrest followed an appeal for information by police and the release of an e-fit image of the driver.
