A homecoming celebration will be held in Leeds on Monday for the city's Olympians.

All athletes with Leeds connections who have taken part in the 2012 Games have been invited to the event at 17:45 BST at Millennium Square.

Boxing gold medallist Nicola Adams and brothers Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, who won gold and bronze medals in the triathlon, are among those attending.

The Lord Mayor of Leeds will later host a civic reception for the athletes.

Councillor Ann Castle said: "The city's athletes have had a great Games, and we are all immensely proud of them.

"I would encourage everyone who has taken an interest in the Olympics to come down and celebrate with us.

"This event will give the city a chance to see their athletes, welcome them back and show their support for all the achievements."

Local music and dance groups will provide entertainment at the event, before the athletes show off their medals and talk about their Olympic experiences.

Divers Alicia Blagg, Hannah Starling, Jack Laugher, Sarah Barrow and Rebecca Gallantree have also confirmed they will attend.
