Leeds city centre ring road closes for repair works

Parts of Leeds' city centre ring road will close over the weekend for repair work.

Leeds City Council said the A58M road will shut to traffic later to allow repair work on the Lovell Park Road Bridge.

The council said it expected the work to cause "significant delays" and urged people to allow more time for their journeys.

The road is set to reopen at 05:00 BST on Monday.

Councillor Richard Lewis said: "The Inner Ring Road is a vital part of the city's transport system. More than 75,000 cars use it every day.

"It has served the city well for nearly 50 years, but if we are to keep the traffic moving through the city in future we have to undertake major repairs to the Inner Ring Road bridges now."
