Swan pedalo effort raises over £50,000 for Sport Relief

Two Radio Leeds presenters, who pedalled the length of the Leeds-Liverpool canal, have raised more than £50,000 for Sport Relief.

Adam Pope and Katherine Hannah took part in 10-day voyage on a Swan-shaped pedalo called Grace.

The challenge, which finished in Leeds on Friday, has resulted in the pair raising £50,439.

Rozina Breen, BBC Radio Leeds editor, said it was an "incredible moment in the history of BBC Radio Leeds".

She said: "Who would have thought two presenters and a pedalo, a swan called Grace, could have captured the imagination of West Yorkshire in the way they did.

"Thank you to everyone who donated. Your generosity is amazing."

The journey started in the middle of Liverpool on 14 March and covered the entire 127 miles (204km) of the canal.

Those wishing to donate can do so at the Sport Relief web page.
