Meeting over Rotherham rugby club bid to lease land
A public meeting is to be held over plans to find a solution for a South Yorkshire amateur rugby club which has run out of space for its teams.
Rotherham Rugby Union Football Club currently uses Rotherham Titans' facilities on Clifton Lane because the club has no pitches of its own.
As a result it has to hire a variety of locations for matches and training.
It is hoping to lease Herringthorpe playing fields from the council to provide a permanent solution.
The proposals include fencing off an area of the field, improving the playing surface and drainage, providing new changing rooms and installing floodlighting.
In March the authority's cabinet agreed that consultation on the proposals should be carried out with the public.
As a result a public meeting outlining the plans is being held at Rotherham Town Hall on 14 June.
