Leyland school fire: Five youths deny arson

Fire at St Mary's College Leyland About 125 firefighters tackled the fire at St Mary's Catholic Technology College

Five boys have denied charges of arson with intent to danger life after a huge fire at a Lancashire school.

Sections of St Mary's Catholic Technology College in Leyland were demolished after the blaze during the summer holidays last year.

At its height, 125 firefighters tackled the fire on 1 September.

The boys, aged 11, 14, 15 and two 13-year-olds, pleaded not guilty at Preston Crown Court and were bailed ahead of a trial on 27 October.

The school said it was aiming for new buildings to be open by September 2015.
