Woman killed in Leyland as car mounts pavement is named

A woman who died when a car mounted a pavement and hit her as she stepped out from a shop in Leyland has been named.

Lancashire Police said 53-year-old Julie Dean, who lived in Leyland, died at the scene.

She was on Sumner Street at 13:00 BST on Monday when a gold Nissan Qashqai struck her, police said.

A spokesman said an investigation was ongoing but that no-one had been arrested in connection with the death.
