St Helens man in court over Heysham stabbing

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a 25-year-old woman was stabbed in Lancashire.

The victim was found with multiple stab wounds at a house in Charlbury Grove in Heysham on Friday.

She was taken to hospital, where her condition has been described as stable.

John Maughan, 41, of Robinson Place in St Helens was remanded in custody by Preston magistrates until his next hearing on 13 May at Preston Crown Court.
