An e-fit image has been released by police after a woman was raped as she walked home in Lancaster.

The 23-year-old had been on a night out in the city centre.

As she walked along Ashton Road in the early hours of 3 March she approached a man and asked him for directions. He attacked her after they spoke.

He is described as being in his early 20s, white, with wavy hair, about 5ft 10ins (1.8m) tall and of average build.

Lancashire Police want to hear from anybody who saw someone acting suspiciously in the Bridge Road or Ashton Road area of Lancaster between midnight and 02:30 GMT 3 March.
