The cortege route ahead of Sir Tom Finney's civic funeral will include Preston North End's Deepdale ground, the city council said.

It will leave the home of the legendary footballer's only club before heading along Sir Tom Finney Way.

The cortege, accompanied by civic representatives, will pass Preston Town Hall and travel to Preston Minster for the service at 13:00 GMT on 27 February.

Sir Tom, who was 91, died on Friday.

Two books of condolence have been opened in Preston, along with another online, where tributes have been paid.

Timings for the cortege and arrangements for the funeral service have not yet been confirmed.

It will pass along Deepdale Road, Ringway, Tithebarn Street, Lord Street and Lancaster Road. Church Street will be closed to traffic.
