Homes still without power in Lancashire after storms

About 40 homes in Preston and Burnley remain without power after strong winds damaged overhead lines.

Electricity North West said it was doing all it can to restore supplies after storms affected the area on Friday.

Engineers have been working since first light, the company's spokesman said.

Repairs were delayed "because of dangerous conditions" but it is hoped all homes will be reconnected later on Saturday.

On Friday, up to 1,000 properties were left without power in Lancashire as gusts of up to 70 mph (110km/h) were recorded.

By Friday evening, 800 homes had been reconnected.
