'Despicable' robbers tie Morecambe woman to stair lift

Robbers who pushed a 74-year-old woman to the floor and tied her to a stair lift committed a "despicable attack", Lancashire Police have said.

The men knocked on the woman's door at 19:00 GMT on Friday in Christie Avenue, Morecambe, before shoving her over.

She was the bound to the stair lift at the bottom of the stairs by the men who then ransacked her home and stole cash and "items of sentimental value".

Det Insp Andy Bunn said the level of violence was "completely unnecessary".

He added: "This was a most despicable attack on a vulnerable and defenceless elderly woman in the run up to Christmas."
