Mark Burgess Mark Burgess died in hospital after crashing his car on Saturday

A man has died after his car crashed into a barrier on the M65 motorway in east Lancashire.

Mark Burgess, 39, from Abbey Village, lost control of his car near junction 8 on the westbound carriageway at about 22:55 GMT on Saturday, police said.

Three cars and an ambulance then collided with the car and debris.

Mr Burgess was taken to hospital but died of multiple injuries. The drivers and passengers of the other vehicles sustained minor injuries.

The M65 near Accrington was closed for over six hours to allow for an investigation to take place and remove debris from the road.
